Alexander Laycock
Alexander has 16 years of experience in the plumbing and heating industry, beginning his career through a 4-year apprenticeship with East Coast Gas, moving onto Help-Link, honing skills in all aspects of plumbing and heating. After qualifying as a fully certified gas engineer, he expanded his expertise & Knowledge to include renewable heating technologies. He now specialises in the installation and maintenance of both air source and ground source heat pumps, serving a wide range of Domestic properties.
Simon Midgley
Simon is an apprentice trained Plumbing and Heating engineer with over 35 years’ experience in the industry, first working for his father’s family business before moving on into the contracting world and then having the opportunity to move into Operations Management for SME’s and Energy Company’s. Simon’s first dive into renewables was in 2012 where he gained skills both installing and project managing ASHP, Commercial & Domestic Biomass and Solar PV installations. He brings to the team a wealth of knowledge & experience in Compliance, Health & safety, estimating, commercial management and business development.

Matt Watts
Matt is a fully qualified heating engineer with over 5 years of experience installing and maintaining renewable heating systems, specialising in air source and ground source heat pumps. Having completed his apprenticeship, Matt is now Gas Safe qualified and dedicated to staying ahead of the curve in the renewable energy sector, always seeking to expand his knowledge and contribute to a more sustainable future.
Ryan Laycock
Ryan has 12 years’ experience in the plumbing and heating industry beginning his career as an apprentice at Help Link and then qualifying as a gas engineer installing and maintaining gas boilers. He moved into renewables over 3 years ago, servicing, installing and commissioning different make and models of ASHP and GSHP, as well as gaining experience in surveying and is looking forward to developing his skills further in heat loss and system design.
Alexander, Simon and Ryan being family and Matt who has worked with Alexander & Ryan for the last 5 years decided that they had had enough of working for the man, and felt it was the right time to put their heads together & start Smart Renewables & Heating Ltd. They are excited to be part of the company and are looking forward to future and growing Smart Renewables & Heating Ltd into a brand they can be proud of.
